Workshops for Water & Wastewater Operators
Peracetic Acid Use in Water/Wastewater Process
Description
This workshop will review comparative reasons to consider peracetic acid. Definitions and common characteristics related to strengths, formulations, efficacy, oxidizing capacity and the pros and cons will be discussed. Safety, storage, and proper handling as well as applications, cost comparatives, and residual testing will be explored during the session.
Learning Objectives
- Understand the basic characteristics of peracetic acid used in the water and wastewater industry, strengths, limitations. Etc.
- Familiarize the safety, handling and compatibility issues using peracetic acid
- Understand the benefits, features and advantages of peracetic acid over more common oxidizers like hypochlorite, ozone, chlorine, chlorine dioxide, and even stand-alone ultraviolet
- Learn why peracetic acid holds many added benefits in applications in the water and wastewater industry

Five Common Sense Practices in Water/Wastewater Process
Description
This program will focus on two common misunderstandings of key elements used to achieve a well run operation. First, we will explore temperature & alkalinity; two of the most important measurement parameters an operator can make. Next, we will investigate the three key operational practices most often ignored in the chemical feed process. Ignoring the practices could lead to a catastrophic event like injuring your personnel and/ or civilians.
Learning Objectives
- Recognize and validate the role that temperature & alkalinity play in every water & wastewater process
- Grasp the real purpose for verifying each and every chemical delivered to the water & wastewater facility
- Know why using the weakest strength of a chemical can pay big dividends in operation and maintenance concerns
- Understand the importance of verifying every chemical delivery
