Open Enrollment
Open Enrollment is the one time each year you can enroll or make changes in your health care benefits without a qualifying event. Otherwise, changes may only be made if a qualifying life status change or qualifying work status change has occurred. Southern State Community College holds Open Enrollment in May.
Emails will be sent to all benefits eligible faculty and staff with more information and further instructions prior to the start of Open Enrollment. During Open Enrollment, you can make changes to your Medical, Dental, Vision, and Voluntary Life coverages. You will also be able to re-enroll/enroll in a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) for the next plan year.
During Open Enrollment, you will be able to add dependents and beneficiaries. You will need the individual's full social security number and full date of birth to add them.
If you are adding a dependent to your coverage that has not previously been on the College's sponsored plan, you will need to provide the necessary Verification Documentation to the Human Resources Department prior to May 31st. Failure to turn in required documentation will result in the removal of the intended dependent from all coverage.
If your spouse was not covered on your medical plan during the previous benefit period and you wish to add them during Open Enrollment, you will need to provide the completed Spousal Healthcare Affidavit to the Human Resources Department prior to May 31st. Failure to turn in required documentation will result in the removal of the spouse from all coverage.
For detailed instructions on how to complete your Open Enrollment, see the How to Enroll section.
