Administrator

An Administrator is an SSCC employee who works in a position of leadership for the college. Administrator positions may include working in the department of Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Business, Information Technology or many other areas. Administrator positions may be made to either of SSCC's campuses located in Hillsboro and Mt. Orab.

Helping as a Staff Member

Staff Member

A staff member is an SSCC employee who works either part-time or full-time for the college. Staff positions may include working in the department of Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Business, Information Technology or many other areas. Staff member positions may be made to either of SSCC's campuses located in Hillsboro and Mt. Orab.

Staff Member Compensation Schedule

Payment of salaries is made on the 15th and last day of each month after all necessary paperwork has been submitted to the Department of Human Resources. Full Time Staff members are eligible to receive benefits and are required to participate in the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System (OPERS) or an approved ARP. Part Time Staff members are ineligible to receive benefits but are required to participate in the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System.

Guiding as a Faculty Member

Faculty

A faculty member is a full time SSCC instructor who teaches ordinarily 15 or more credit hours during any semester of the academic year. Faculty appointments may be made to either of SSCC's campuses located in Hillsboro and Mt. Orab.

Faculty Compensation Schedule

Payment of salaries is made on the 15th and last day of each month after all necessary paperwork has been submitted to the Department of Human Resources. Faculty employees are eligible to receive benefits and are required to participate in the State Teachers Retirement System (STRS) or an approved ARP.

In order to meet the multi-dimensional academic mission of the College to remediate students, prepare students for the workforce or transfer, and to provide continuing education, it is incumbent on the institution to hire highly qualified faculty in all areas. Teaching as a Part-time Instructor

Part-time

A part-time faculty member (Adjunct) is an SSCC instructor who teaches ordinarily 12 or fewer credit hours during any semester of the academic year. Part-time faculty appointments may be made to either of SSCC's campuses located in Hillsboro and Mt. Orab.

Part-time Faculty Compensation Schedule

Compensation for Part-time Faculty positions is paid on a per credit hour basis with the range being between $450 per credit hour and $800 per credit hour. Placement within the range is at the Academic Dean's discretion. Payment of salaries is made on the 15th and last day of each month after all necessary paperwork has been submitted to the Department of Human Resources. Adjunct Faculty members are ineligible to receive benefits but are required to participate in the State Teachers Retirement System (STRS).

Part-time faculty employment arrangements are subject to the sufficiency of legislative appropriations, the pertinent provisions of the Ohio Revised Code and the official actions of the Board of Trustees. The agreements create no expectation of future employment and the college maintains sole discretion in choosing to offer or not offer future teaching opportunities.

SSCC provides interesting and challenging supplemental employment for people wanting part-time work adaptable to their personal schedules and needs. We appreciate this assistance and could not meet our mission without it. Supplemental positions may include coaching positions, coordinator positions, advisor positions or other time-investment opportunities. Supplemental positions may be made to either of SSCC's campuses located in Hillsboro and Mt. Orab.

Learning as a Student Employee

Student Employee

Interested in working on campus for some extra cash? The Federal Work Study Program gives students an opportunity to work part-time on campus and gain work experience at the same time. Students can earn extra money by working no more than 15 hours a week in such areas as office services, student activities and lab assisting.

In order to be eligible, a FAFSA must be on file at Southern State indicating a demonstrated need. Students must be enrolled in at least six semester hours at Southern State. A background check will be performed on applicants prior to placement in a position.

Student Employment Compensation Schedule

Contributing as a Training Facilitator

Training Facilitator

A training facilitator is a contract position through the Workforce Development department. A training facilitator guides and manages the learning process during training sessions or workshops. The primary role is to create an environment for learning, encourage participation, and ensure that the training objectives are effectively met. Facilitators lead discussions, deliver presentations, facilitate group exercises, and encourage interactive learning experiences to engage participants and promote knowledge retention.

Compensation is based on various factors and is not considered part-time or full-time. The facilitator will also not receive benefits.
