- Twelve graduates of Southern State Community College’s Practical Nursing program were recognized during a Dec. 6 pinning ceremony at the college's Central Campus in Hillsboro.
- SSCC Respiratory Care celebrates graduation
- Southern State Community College's 12th graduating class in the Respiratory Care program was honored during a Dec. 8 ceremony on the college's Fayette Campus in Washington Court House.

- Southern State Community College will host an Open House event from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6, in the Community Room on the college's Fayette Campus, 1270 U.S. 62 SW, Washington Court House.
- SSCC Board of Trustees to meet Oct. 17
- The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees will meet 12 noon Wednesday, Oct. 17, in the Community Room on SSCC Brown County Campus, 351 Brooks-Malott Road, Mt. Orab.
- SSCC band to perform Oct. 28 Veterans Day concert
- The Southern State Community Band will perform its 20th anniversary Veterans Day concert 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State Community College's Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.

- SSCC Theatre Company presents Joseph Kesselring's "Arsenic and Old Lace," playing Nov. 2-4 in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State Community College's Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro. The Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m.; the Sunday matinee begins at 3:30 p.m.
September 2018
- Adams County Campus Project Put on Hold
- At its regular September 19 meeting, the Southern State Board of Trustees unanimously voted to reject all of the bids submitted by three construction firms to build the Adams County Campus. The lowest base bid submitted was $1.3 million over the advertised estimate of $3.25 million dollars. State law prohibits a state entity from entering into a contract on a project that exceeds its estimate by 10 percent or more.

- The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees will meet 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, in Room 320 on SSCC North Campus, 1850 Davids Drive, Wilmington.
- SSCC hosts college visit day on Hillsboro campus

- SSCC's Adult Opportunity Center holds recognition celebration
- Area residents who passed the General Education Development (GED) test were honored recently at the 30th annual Adult Opportunity Center's Recognition Celebration at Southern State Community College's Central Campus in Hillsboro.
- Auditions for SSCC Theatre's "Arsenic and Old Lace" will be Aug. 24
- SSCC Theatre will hold auditions for the fall production of "Arsenic and Old Lace," by Joseph Kesselring. Open to community members and students, auditions will be held 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State Community College's Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.

- The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees will meet 12 noon Wednesday, Aug. 22, in the Community Center on SSCC Fayette Campus.
- WCH PD scholarship awarded to Trevor Phillips
- The Washington C.H. Police Department presented its annual scholarship to Trevor Phillips, a graduate of Washington High School and the son of Cathy Phillips.

- SSCC awards Elks Scholarship to Madison Hatfield
- The Hillsboro Elks Lodge and the Southern State Community College Foundation have announced Madison Hatfield as the 2018 recipient of the 2018 Hillsboro Elks Scholarship.
- Gov. Kasich completes SSCC trustee appointments
- Ohio Gov. John R. Kasich's office has announced two new appointments and one reappointment to the Southern State Community College Board of Trustees for terms continuing through May 11, 2024.
- SSCC to host education conference
- The 10th annual Building Bridges education conference will be held July 24-27 at Southern State Community College's Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.
- SSCC Theatre presents 'Dead Man Walking'
- SSCC Theatre Company presents Tim Robbins' "Dead Man Walking," playing July 27-29 in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State Community College's Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro. The Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m.; the Sunday matinee begins at 3:30 p.m.

- The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees will meet 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, at First State Bank, 19230 State Route 136, Winchester.
- SSCC offers free GED prep classes
- Adults who want to earn their GED, prep for college, or improve basic academic skills are invited to attend free classes through the Adult Opportunity Center (AOC) at Southern State Community College.

- S.T.E.A.M. Summer Camps at Southern State
- Do you know kids who love science, technology, engineering, arts (design), and mathematics? Check out the S.T.E.A.M. Summer Camps offered in Hillsboro and Wilmington through a partnership between Southern State Community College and Southern Ohio Educational Service Center.
- SSCC healthcare programs celebrate graduation
- Graduates of Southern State Community College's medical assisting and allied health programs were honored April 25 at a Graduate Tea. Graduates from the medical assisting, phlebotomy technician and billing and coding specialist programs attended.
- Auditions for SSCC Theatre's "Dead Man Walking" will be June 1-2
- SSCC Theatre will hold auditions for the summer production of "Dead Man Walking," a stage play based on the successful non-fiction book by Sister Helen Prejean and adapted screenplay by Tim Robbins.

- The Finance Committee of Southern State Community College’s Board of Trustees will meet 3 p.m., Thursday, April 19, in Dr. Kevin Boys' office on the college's Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro. The meeting is open to the public.
- SSCC hosts "Healing from Sexual Assault" on April 13
- A seminar on "Healing from Sexual Assault" will be held 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 13, in the auditorium on Southern State Community College’s Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro. The event is free and open to the public.

- SSCC Board of Trustees to meet March 21 and 22
- The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees will meet beginning 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, and reconvening 9 a.m. Thursday, March 22, in the large conference room at the Ohio Association of Community Colleges offices, 175 S. Third St., Suite 560, Columbus. The meeting is open to the public.
- Breakfast with the Bunny on March 24 at SSCC Fayette
- Breakfast with the Bunny & Easter Egg Hunt will be held 9-11 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at Southern State Community College’s Fayette Campus, 1270 U.S. Route 62 SW, Washington C.H. The egg hunt will begin at 10 a.m. and, in the case of inclement weather, can be held indoors.
- SSCC presents 'Dead Man's Cell Phone' April 6-8
- SSCC Theatre Company proudly presents Sarah Ruhl’s “Dead Man’s Cell Phone,” playing April 6-8 in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State Community College’s Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro. The Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m.; the Sunday matinee begins at 3:30 p.m.
- Career Readiness Workshop at SSCC on March 23
- A Career Readiness Workshop will be held 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 23, at Southern State Community College’s Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.
February 2018
- SSCC marks National Engineering Week from Feb. 20-23
- Southern State Community College is celebrating National Engineering Week with open house events on the college’s Central Campus. During the four days of open house events, the engineering lab will be open to the public from 12 noon to 2 p.m. for visitors to meet with engineering faculty, tour the labs, discuss engineering options, and enjoy snacks, games, and freebies.
- SSCC instructor interprets for deaf Haitian children
- Gregory Lawson's flight plan changes last minute. Instead of traveling with a group, he finds out he is heading to Haiti alone.
- SSCC presents 'Love, Loss, & What I Wore'
- SSCC Theatre Company proudly presents Nora and Delia Ephron's "Love, Loss, & What I Wore," playing 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State Community College's Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.
January 2018
- SSCC's Russ Brewer Announces Retirement
- For the past decade, Southern State Community College has maintained a strong presence in Adams County through the SSCC Enterprise Center in Winchester. Now that plans are underway for the new SSCC Adams County Campus in West Union, the needs served by the Enterprise Center will transition to the future SSCC campus.
- Six Blocks with Daryl Privott
- Guest speaker Daryl R. Privott, Ph.D. will present "Six Blocks: Learning How to Overcome Failure in Today's World" 9-10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, on Southern State Community College's Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.
- SSCC Board of Trustees to meet January 17
- The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees will meet 12 noon Wednesday, Jan. 17, in the Community Room of the college’s Brown County Campus, 351 Brooks-Malott Road, Mt. Orab. The meeting is open to the public.
- Southern State's IT team wins Cloud Leadership Award
- Southern State Community College has been named a recipient of a Cloud Leadership Award for moving self-hosted technology services to the cloud, as well as embracing additional cloud services to address many strategic needs of the college.
- Auditions for SSCC Theatre's "Dead Man’s Cell Phone" rescheduled for Jan. 12
- Due to the forecast of inclement weather, SSCC Theatre has rescheduled auditions for the spring production of "Dead Man’s Cell Phone," by Sarah Ruhl.
