December 2021
- SSCC's Practical Nursing program celebrates graduation
- Fourteen graduates of Southern State Community College's Practical Nursing program were recognized during a December 9 pinning ceremony at the college's Central Campus in Hillsboro.
- SSCC Board of Trustees to meet December 15
- The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 15 on SSCC's Hillsboro Campus, Room 347, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.
- Auditions for SSCC Theatre's "I Hate Hamlet" will be January 15
- SSCC Theatre will hold auditions for the spring production of "I Hate Hamlet," by Paul Rudnick. Open to community members and students, auditions will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 15, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State Community College's Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.

- The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees is planning to hold a Finance Committee meeting at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 3 on SSCC Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.
- SSCC Board of Trustees to meet November 17
- The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 17 on SSCC's Hillsboro Campus, Room 347, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro for their regular Board meeting.

- SSCC Board of Trustees to meet October 20 and New Trustee Appointed
- The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 20 on SSCC's Hillsboro Campus, Room 347, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro for their regular Board meeting. The board will enter into executive session for the purpose of discussing the purchase or sale of property and the appointment and compensation of public employees.
September 2021
- Nationwide exhibit, Anne Frank play coming to Southern State Community College
- A national exhibit surrounding the life of Anne Frank will be open to the public at Southern State Community College's Hillsboro campus this October, followed by a production of "Diary of Anne Frank" at the beginning of November.
- SSCC announces honors lists for summer semester
- Southern State Community College has released its President's List and Dean's List for academic excellence for Summer Semester 2021. To be eligible for the President's List, a student must maintain a 4.0 grade point average while carrying a specific number of academic credit hours. Those who achieve the Dean's List are full-time students who have earned at least a 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0.
- Public Notice of Upcoming Accreditation Review Visit by the ACEN
- Southern State Community College wishes to announce that it will host a site visit for continuing accreditation of its Associate Degree Nursing program by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

- I cannot begin to imagine the pushes and pulls that any governor faces in establishing his or her priorities in a state's budget, but especially for a state as large and complex as Ohio, with the 7th-largest population and, literally, one of the largest economies in the world. The needs are enormous, so I'm always appreciative when a governor chooses to prioritize spending that will benefit a small college like Southern State Community College and the students we serve.

- SSCC Board of Trustees to hold special meeting July 19
- The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting at 12:00 p.m., Monday, July 19 in Room 317 at the Wilmington Campus, located at 1850 Davids Drive, Wilmington, OH.
- SSCC awards WCH scholarship to Makayla Lingerfelt
- The Washington C.H. Police Department presented its annual scholarship to Makayla Lingerfelt, a recent graduate of Miami Trace High School.
- SSCC's Associate Degree Nursing Program Celebrates Graduation
- Thirty-eight graduates of Southern State Community College's Associate Degree Nursing Program were recognized during a May 6 pinning ceremony at the college's Central Campus in Hillsboro.
- SSCC awards Elks Scholarship to Macie Clifford
- The Hillsboro Elks Lodge and the Southern State Community College Foundation have announced Macie Clifford as the 2021 recipient of the Hillsboro Elks Scholarship.
June 2021
- SSCC Board of Trustees to meet June 16
- The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 16 at on SSCC's Hillsboro Campus, Room 107, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro for their regular Board meeting. The board will enter into executive session for the purpose of discussing the purchase or sale of property; collective bargaining matters; and the appointment and compensation of public employees.
- SSCC holds cruise-in commencement to celebrate Graduates
- Southern State Community College honored graduates from the classes of 2020 and 2021 with a "Cruise-In Commencement" Celebration at the Central Campus in Hillsboro.
May 2021
- Southern State & University of Cincinnati College of Nursing in Partnership
- Southern State Community College (SSCC) and the University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Nursing are signing a dual-admission agreement that will allow nursing graduates to seamlessly transition to UC's RN to BSN Online Program. Students applying to SSCC's ADN program have the choice to simultaneously apply to the RN to BSN program and have their application and confirmation fees waived by UC. These students will be able to access UC resources and support while pursuing their degree at SSCC.

- Southern State Community College Students Win "Best and Brightest" Honors, Named to the All-Ohio Academic Team
- Five students at Southern State Community College have been honored with a place on the All-Ohio Community College Academic Team for 2021, joining 73 students from Ohio's community college system honored with scholarships for their excellence in academics, leadership and community service. A ceremony to recognize this year's award winners will be held virtually on April 29 as part of Community College Month in Ohio.
- SSCC Board of Trustees Finance Committee to meet April 20 and hold special meeting April 22
- The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees is planning to hold a Finance Committee meeting at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20 on SSCC Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro. They will also hold a special meeting at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, April 22 via Zoom. The board will enter into executive session for the purpose of discussing compensation of public officials and the sale or purchase of property.
- SSCC's Boys Honored with International Phi Theta Kappa Award
- Southern State Community College President Dr. Kevin Boys was recently honored with the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Shirley B. Gordon Award of Distinction, the most prestigious award for community college presidents.

- Southern State student, Alyssa Mays, named Coca-Cola Academic Team Silver Scholar
- Alyssa Mays, a student at Southern State Community College and senior at North Adams High School, has been named a 2021 Coca-Cola Academic Team Silver Scholar and will receive a $1,250 scholarship.
- SSCC Board of Trustees to meet March 16-17
- The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet for their annual Board Retreat on March 16 and March 17, via Zoom for a virtual meeting.
February 2021
- SSCC to hold orientation for FREE GED preparation classes
- The Adult Opportunity Center (AOC) at Southern State Community College is offering orientation in March for new or returning program enrollees in basic academic skills, GED preparation, and college readiness.
January 2021
- Southern State Community College Teachers go back to school to expand Online-Teaching Skills
- Hillsboro, Ohio - Four faculty members from Southern State Community College have jumped at the chance to improve their online teaching skills by participating in a 25-week Effective Online Teaching Practices course offered in collaboration with the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE).
